Wonderful Caramel Brownies, Julie S. (6/2016)
1 14 oz pkg light caramels*
1 box German Chocolate
cake mix
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped nuts
¾ cup melted butter or margarine
1 12 oz pkg milk or semi-sweet chocolate
chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan.
Place caramels
and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in a saucepan and melt slowly over low heat.
In a
large mixing bowl, combine remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk, melted butter,
cake mix and nuts.
Spread half of the cake mixture in the prepared pan and bake
for 6 minutes.
While the cake is hot, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
Spread melted caramel
over the chips and crumble remaining cake mix over the caramel.
Bake for another
20 minutes or until done.
Cool and cut into squares.
*approximately 40 if you buy them in bulk at Wegmans. Also, Wal Mart sells Kraft
Caramel Bits. 1 pkg works- slightly less but time saving and much easier on hands.
